Two maintenance parts show up on almost every JK 3.6 job on this site: the coolant and the oil filter. Mopar 68163849AB is the 50/50 premix of the 10-year/150,000-mile OAT coolant that 2013–2018 JK manuals specify under MS.90032. Mopar 68191349AC, also called MO-349, is the cartridge oil filter for the flat-bottom housing, O-ring included.

The coolant matters because the thermostat housing, water pump, and oil-cooler jobs all drain the system. Topping a 2013–2018 JK with the older formula, or mixing leftover 2012 coolant into a later truck, is how a correct parts order still causes trouble. 2012 used the 5-year/100,000-mile formula. Do not treat the two as interchangeable.

The filter is the most common mix-up in the lookup. Early 2012–2013 housings take a nipple-style filter. A converted housing, or any 2014-and-later housing, takes this cartridge. The wrong filter in a converted housing can hold the bypass open. The part page spells out which housing gets 68191349AC.

When to replace

Change the filter at every oil change, and any time the housing is off. Use a new O-ring. The filter cap is 18 ft-lbs. Over-tightening is how the plastic housings crack. Use 68191349AC only on the flat-bottom housing it fits. Refill coolant with the same OAT formula when you drain for a housing, pump, or cooler job. If you do not know what is in the system, drain and fill rather than mixing an unknown jug with new OAT.

Safety

Coolant is poisonous, and a hot system is pressurized. Open the cap cold. Used oil is a skin irritant. Drain it before you pull the intake for a housing job. Do not mix coolant chemistries to stretch a bottle. If the oil looks milky, do not just change the filter. The cooler seal may be passing coolant into the oil, and that repair is on the engine page.
